Your cloud AI provider probably delivers what it promises. The problem is what exactly it promises.
What the contract promises
That they will not use your information to train their models. It is a promise about use, and they normally keep it.
What the contract cannot promise
That they do not have it. To answer you, they have to receive it. This is not a hidden defect: it is how any cloud service works.
A confidentiality agreement does not prevent a leak. Data that never leaves does.

There are four paths, and they combine. You start with the first and grow when usage calls for it, not the other way round. First of all, check what runs on your machine: we would rather tell you here than after you have paid.

A normal laptop runs a small model and that already gives you chat, voice and documents. To ask it for a large model you need a graphics card — the exact table is below, no small print.

This is not a contradiction: it is the point. JMAX does not forbid you the cloud — it gives you the switch you do not have today. Turn on whichever provider you want for what is not confidential, block it for what is, and replace personal data with pseudonyms where needed. And if you turn everything off, JMAX still works in full.

The 27B maths, in the clear
Why the boundary is at 24 GB
Not a brochure figure. It comes from weighing the models we already run: in Q4_K_M, a model weighs about 0.72 GB per billion parameters. From there:

And what they will not tell you: with 16 GB the model «works» by splitting the load between graphics card and processor. Technically it starts. In practice it drops to a few words per second and stops being pleasant to use. We would rather you knew now. If you want a 32,000-word context, the maths goes up to about 26 GB and then the 32 GB card stops being a luxury.
Speeds are in tokens per second —a token is roughly three quarters of a word— and they are estimates, except the last row. That one was measured on our own server on 17 August 2026 with Ollama. The rest depend on your card, your drivers and the exact model: take them as an order of magnitude, not a promise. Write to us with your machine model and we will tell you what to expect before you buy.

The maths
How long until it pays for itself?
Since you pay once, the question is not how much it costs per month: it is how many days it takes to give back what it cost. Put in your two numbers — the hours you lose to repetitive work and what an hour of yours is worth — and the maths does itself.

And from then on you never pay again. With a subscription, that sum repeats every month for as long as you use it.
Deliberately conservative maths: it only counts hours, and against the Bronze launch price (USD 69,99, one payment). It does not count the client who left because you answered the next day, nor the typing error, nor the third-party data someone pasted where they should not have. If it still does not add up for you, we will say so ourselves and sell you nothing.

Including the uncomfortable ones
Is it as good as ChatGPT?
For writing prose or a speech, no. For working with your company information without it leaving, the comparison does not apply: the other one cannot do it. We do not compete with the model, we compete with what surrounds it: where it runs, what it lets out, what it shows you and what it costs you.
Does really nothing leave?
These do not leave: the chat, the memory, the documents, the voice, the agents and the databases. Two things can leave, and only if you switch them on: web search —which by definition is outside— and image generation, which today uses an external provider. Both go under the personal-data firewall, and if you turn everything external off, JMAX still works in full. We would rather say it ourselves.
What happens if I lose internet?
It keeps working. Without web search and without generating images, but the chat, your documents, the voice and the agents work the same. There is a video where the cable is unplugged on camera and the question repeated: it is the third in the carousel.
And if you disappear?
JMAX runs on your machine with your licence. The only thing that talks to our server is activation, and it happens once and only once: you type the token on the login screen and it is stored on your machine. From then on your daily work does not depend on us — or on the internet.
That token is tied to the MAC address of the machine where you activated it. It is not a switch we can use to turn you off: it is what stops one licence being copied to ten different computers. One licence, one machine, one person.
I changed computer. Do I lose the licence?
No. Since the token is tied to the previous machine MAC address, it has to be reissued for the new one: write to us from the same email you bought with and we will send you a new token. The previous one stops working at that moment — so the licence follows you and does not stay circulating on a machine you no longer use.
Does it work on my computer or do I have to buy a new one?
It depends what you are going to ask of it, and we have that in a table, further up this page. A normal laptop runs a small model and that already gives you chat, voice and documents. For a 27-billion-parameter model you need a 24 GB card, or a Mac with 32 GB of unified memory: that is about 22 GB between the model weights and the context. With 16 GB it starts but it drags, and we would rather tell you before you pay.
Does it work on Mac or Linux?
Not today: the launch version is for Windows. macOS and Linux are in development. If you work on either, write to us and we will let you know the day they ship — no waiting list and no promises of dates we cannot keep.
Do I need an engineer?
To use it, nobody: it installs like any program and starts. To connect it to business systems —an ERP, an in-house CRM— you do need an afternoon from someone who knows networks, and it is documented step by step.
What does it NOT do today?
It does not guarantee arithmetic accuracy in financial analysis without someone checking — that is why it shows you where each figure came from. It does not replace a lawyer, an accountant or a doctor. And the flow runner is in its first phase: it works supervised, not yet end to end.
